We’re always on the hunt for those hairstyles that just make your life easier.  A messy bun is seemingly one of the most effortless ways to run out the door, but believe it or not, this hairstyle does take some skill.  

Whether you’re going to the beach or a red carpet event like Kendall Jenner below is a foolproof way to achieve this staple hairstyle.

Get the Look: Messy Bun

Things you need:

• Dry Shampoo
• Teasing comb
• Hair brush
• Hair Ties (2)
• Bobby pins

Tips on how to get the look:

• Second-day hair may be easier to work with.
• Hairstyle does not need to be perfect; that’s why it’s messy!

Step-by-step instructions:

#1 Spray roots with dry shampoo to give your hair more texture

#2 Use your teasing comb to give your roots more volume

#3 Use a hair brush to brush lightly over the backcombing.

#4 Flip your hair over and put into grab all of your hair into a high ponytail

#5 Take your hair tie and secure the ponytail, but only pull through the hair half way

#6 Grab the rest of the hair and wrap it around like a bun and secure again.

#7 Tighten the bun by grabbing both ends, then wrap another hair tie around the base.

#8 For a more undone look, pull up the front parts of your hair for more volume.

#9 Use bobby pins to secure the bun wherever you want.
