This time of year brings a ton of new challenges to keep our hair healthy and happy. Luckily, we have a winter hair care guide! A lot of us deal with static in our hair during dry seasons like Winter. The reason why our hair gets so static-y is because our hair rubs against certain fabrics (especially those worn in the winter) and creates an electron deficiency. Once you remove these fabrics from the hair it will make your hair stand up because it’s trying to find a balance. How do you tame these flyaways? Here are some tips:
Use Dryer Sheets
Dryer sheets aren’t just for laundry! You can use these sheets running down our hair from root to end to neutralize your hairs charge. Dryer sheets work so well because they are made of fibers like fabric. They will also make your hair smell great!
Ditch Your Plastic Comb or Brush
Using a plastic comb or brush will actually make static worse. Switch to comb made out of wood instead. Wood combs or brushes will last longer than their plastic counterparts too!
Moisture Your Hair
Before leaving your house add a little extra moisturizing product to the ends of your hair. This will help your hair keep the extra moisture and fight static hair by giving your hair some extra weight.
Tip: After applying moisturizing products, braid your hair. Once you get to your destination take out your braids. This helps the moisture stay put!
